Penn State Men’s Basketball: Nittany Lions Set to Face Furman as Part of Charleston Classic

Penn State men’s basketball is set to face Furman to start the Charleston Classic on Nov. 17, the program confirmed on Tuesday. The three-day tournament takes place annually at TD Arena in Charleston, South Carolina.

Around the rest of the bracket Virginia Tech will face Old Dominion, Davidson will take on Charleston and Colorado State will play South Carolina. Furman finished the 2021-22 season with a 22-12 record going 12-6 in the Southern Conference.

The Nittany Lions and Paladins will tip off at 11:30 a.m. on the tournament’s first day. Penn State will then face Virginia Tech or Old Dominion on Nov. 18 and one of the four teams on the other side of the bracket on Nov. 20.

Penn State is entering its second season under head coach Micah Shrewsberry. The Nittany Lions welcome eight new faces to the roster this year following an influx of incoming freshmen and transfer portal pickups. Most of Penn State’s out of conference slate is still yet to be announced although the Nittany Lions have already announced a home game against Butler as part of the Gavitt Games and Clemson on the road as part of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.

Shrewsberry and the Nittany Lions return a key core of players including guards Myles Dread and Jalen Pickett as well as forward/guard Seth Lundy and sharpshooter Dallion Johnson.
