UNIVERSITY PARK — In the final quarter and a half of the Penn State White Out game on Saturday, Nov. 9, running back Nick Singleton was not seen on the field or the sideline.

Singleton finished the game with just seven carries and three receptions, his lowest combined touches since Saturday, Nov. 4, last season. His lack of game time saw Kaytron Allen take the majority of touches, with freshman Corey Smith also getting in for the first time this season.

Allen finished the game with 20 rushes for 98 yards and a touchdown. Smith, who only played late, had five carries for 95 yards.

After the game head coach James Franklin did not have an update on the injury.

“No, as you guys know, I don’t kind of get into those types of things. You know, you’ll find out when you come out to practice. I don’t have a whole lot more.”

The Penn State head coach held another press conference on Monday, Nov. 11, but was still unclear the specifics of the injury.

“Short-term, and you guys will obviously have a better idea come practice — but, short-term.” Franklin said.

The news of the potential loss of Singleton for next week comes a few days after the Nittany Lions learned it would also be losing veteran defensive tackle Hakeem Beamon. The sixth year player is no longer with the program as of Friday, Nov. 7, a team spokesperson confirmed.

Beamon has played in all eight games this season and 45 in his career since arriving on campus in 2019. The tackle provided important depth to the interior defensive line that will now have to look elsewhere for help.

The reason for Beamon’s sudden departure has yet to be disclosed by the football program or player.
