Penn State Running Back Nick Singleton NFL Draft Profile

Nick Singleton became a household name in Happy Valley from the moment he committed as a five-star recruit out of Reading.

Singleton and fellow class of 2022 running back Kaytron Allen emerged as co-starters midway through their freshman season and retained that role through their senior seasons.

Though production dipped in his final season, Singleton remains an intriguing draft prospect for several reasons, including his speed in space, explosive-play ability and pass-catching prowess.

He leaves Penn State with 622 carries for 3,461 yards and a program-record 45 rushing touchdowns. Adding in 102 receptions for 987 yards and nine scores, he also holds the program record for total touchdowns.

Singleton has experience as a kick returner, including a 100-yard return as a freshman, something that may get him reps in the NFL.

He broke his foot while practicing at the Panini Senior Bowl this offseason, preventing him from fully participating in the NFL Scouting Combine and Penn State Pro Day. He did, however, put up an impressive 25 bench press reps and sits third in Penn State program history with a 655-pound squat.

Singleton said he’s seen high interest from the Atlanta Falcons, Indianapolis Colts and Detroit Lions throughout the draft process.

“They definitely love how I run the ball,” Singleton said. “Be able to catch the ball in the backfield and just be able to go block. So they always love when a complete back can do anything.”
