Penn State Offensive Tackle Drew Shelton NFL Draft Profile

After four seasons in Happy Valley, including two as a starter guarding quarterback Drew Allar’s blindside, offensive tackle Drew Shelton is headed to the NFL Draft.

A former four-star recruit, Shelton often went unnoticed during Penn State games — a good sign for an offensive lineman. He drew a strong pass-blocking grade of 71.2 from PFF, with a solid 66.4 run blocking grade (60 is average).

Shelton took a step forward as a senior, allowing just one sack on 345 pass protection snaps. The previous season, he allowed two sacks on 476 reps.

He pulled his hamstring during his second 40-yard dash attempt at the NFL Scouting Combine and was unable to participate in Penn State’s Pro Day, but he expects a recovery in time for the draft.

“It’s been great getting in front of teams,” Shelton said. “It’s a dream come true, like every little kid grows up wanting to be in this position, getting to be able to be in front of teams and, you know, spotlight kind of who I am as a player, the athleticism, kind of leader and competitor [they] can get … has been big for me formally at the combine.”
