Penn State has earned its second transfer of the cycle, adding a key piece to a position of need.

Defensive end Enai White, a former four-star prospect from Philadelphia, has committed to the Nittany Lions after three seasons at Texas A&M, per On3. He should provide depth and potential at a position likely to lose its top player, Abdul Carter, to the NFL Draft.

White recorded 11 tackles, three tackles for loss and two sacks across his first two seasons with the Aggies. Despite showing flashes, White sustained a season-ending knee injury that required surgery five games into the 2023 season. Still banged up entering this year, White appeared in just one game in 2024 before an injury ended his season in October.

If White can stay healthy, there’s a clear path to playing time next fall. Carter is almost certainly out the door, leaving an open starting alongside prospective returnee Dani Dennis-Sutton. Smith Vilbert and Amin Vanover are seniors and will soon run out of eligibility. Meanwhile, Zuriah Fisher is set to return from an injury that left him inactive for the entire year.

That would leave Dennis-Sutton, White, Fisher and current true freshmen Max Granville and Jaylen Harvey as the team’s five-deep at defensive end.

White’s commitment also continues a transfer strategy by James Franklin: bringing back former in-state prospects that committed elsewhere out of high school. White now becomes the third such addition in the past two years, joining former Pennsylvania five-star recruits Julian Fleming and Nolan Rucci, who became Nittany Lions last offseason.

Penn State will now have on its roster alumni of Philadelphia’s Imhotep Charter in White, wide receiver Tyseer Denmark, cornerback Kenny Woseley Jr. and incoming-freshman Jabree Wallace-Coleman.

White joins former USC wide receiver Kyron Hudson as the team’s second transfer addition this year. And it doesn’t appear the Nittany Lions are even close to finished with their transfer haul. Needs remain at wide receiver, defensive tackle and safety, among other positions.
