Lane Closures Expected to Cause Travel Delays on I-80 in Centre County

no description

Drivers traveling on part of Interstate 80 in Centre County should be prepared for delays this week.

The right lanes of I-80 eastbound and westbound between mile markers 165 and 168 will be closed during the daytime on Thursday for milling and paving of the right shoulders in each direction, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. The work is part of a larger project to replace four bridges on the highway.

“PennDOT urges drivers to anticipate delays, build extra time into their travel schedules, exercise caution in this and all work zones, obey posted speed limits and always buckle up,” the department wrote in a news release.

The lane closure is expected to be in place for one day, but work is weather dependent. Travelers can check 511PA.com for the latest road conditions and delay warnings.

Overall work on the larger project includes concrete and asphalt paving on I-80 and Hubler Ridge and Sand Ridge roads, milling and paving, drainage improvements, guide rail installation and pavement marking,

Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc. is the contractor on the $22 million job, which is expected to continue through the 2026 construction season.
