Family tradition is served by the slice at Angelo’s Pizzeria in Boalsburg.

Located along Business Route 322, Angelo’s is a casual, family-friendly restaurant that has featured pizza, strombolis, subs, salads, entrees, and more for nearly 25 years.

Owner Vita Moyer owned a pizza shop in Spring Mills for three years before opening Angelo’s in August 2000. Sharing her Italian heritage through food is a family tradition for Moyer. Angelo’s namesake is Moyer’s father, who immigrated to the United States in 1953 from Sicily.

Moyer says her father worked odd jobs to make ends meet while living in New York. He made a deal with a New Yorker who taught him how to make pizza in exchange for a necklace.

The trade paid off, as Angelo opened his own pizza shop in Brooklyn and then other locations before moving to Pennsylvania in the 1970s with his family. They opened their first Pennsylvania location in the Nittany Mall.

“His legacy lives on through his children, who all own their own restaurants,” Moyer says.

Today, Angelo’s Pizzeria is a local favorite for quick lunches, gameday bites, special events, and everything in between.

“We have a lot of regular local customers who come in daily,” Manager Erin Shay says.

Angelo’s offers dine-in and take-out services and hosts larger parties in a private room. The restaurant’s menu boasts a variety of Italian favorites made from Angelo’s homemade dough.

“We make all of our own dough daily from scratch, and our bread is made fresh all day long from our dough,” Shay says. “We want to continue to use quality ingredients and to put out great food to our customers.”

Predictably, pizza is one of the most popular menu items, perfecting the combination of melted cheese and savory sauce on a crispy outer crust. With almost countless topping combinations, Angelo’s is ready to create a pie for anyone’s palate.

The kitchen recently added a Hot Honey Pizza (mozzarella, pepperoni, hot honey drizzle) that is gaining fans with each order. Pizza is available by the slice or in three sizes—medium (12 inch), large (14 inch), and extra large (16 inch).

Salads and subs are great options for lunch. Many customers order the Grilled Chicken Salad, which features plain, BBQ, or Buffalo chicken served over iceberg and romaine lettuces, tomatoes, onions, sweet and banana peppers, olives, French fries, mozzarella, and a hard-boiled egg. The popular Italian Sub includes ham, salami, provolone, Italian dressing, lettuce, tomato, onion, and sweet and banana peppers on a fresh roll.

Angelo’s also offers a variety of pasta dinners, with multiple combinations of pastas and proteins with sauces like marinara, pesto, Alfredo, blush, vodka, and meat sauce. Each dinner is served with a salad and garlic roll. The homemade Spaghetti and Meatballs are the most popular, according to Shay.

Daily lunch and dinner specials include discounted subs, pasta dishes, and pizzas. Family meal deals and catering dishes offer larger portions for gatherings and celebrations. Be sure to save room for delicious homemade desserts like tiramisu, cannoli, cheesecake, and fried cinnamon dough balls.

Above all, the team at Angelo’s loves being a part of Boalsburg and supporting the community. The restaurant hosts events like music nights where local artists play and gain exposure.

“We want to be a place where everyone feels welcome and can come to have a great meal while spending time with family and friends,” Moyer and Shay say. T&G
