State College to Host 3rd Annual Multicultural Unity Fair

State College Borough and the Community Diversity Group will host the third annual Multicultural Unity Fair from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday at the Municipal Building, 243 S. Allen St.

The fair, which was not held for the last two years because of COVID-19, was the vision of CDG member Sharon Barney for an event where the community could come together to learn about and celebrate its diverse cultures.

Saturday’s family-friendly event will feature performances including the Happy Valley Chinese School Dancers, Society for Indian Music and Arts, Irish dancing by Tir Na Nog, Jaya Dance Academy, belly dancing by Shannon Bishop, Carnatic Classical Group, Chaar Martial Arts Center, Eric Ian Farmer, and Ady Martinez.

Food trucks including Brazilian Munchies, Etey’s Gursha Food and Sunset Slushy Happy Valley will be on hand to offer food and beverages for purchase.

“This educational opportunity will allow the public to be exposed to and celebrate together the various cultures that exist within our community through performances, information booths, food, games and children’s activities,” according to a borough news release.
