Charles James Weyandt, 78, of Julian, Huston Township, Centre County passed away quietly at his home on June 2, 2016.

He was born in Windber, Pennsylvania May 19,1938 to the late William C Weyandt and Mary Edna Schuster Weyandt who pre-deceased him. His siblings Mary Beverly Ott, Audris June Chaney and William C. Weyandt also predeceased him.

Chuck is survived by his wife Jane McClymonds Weyandt whom he married on March 8, 1959. He is also survived by his five children, Heidi Jo Fletcher of Ithaca, NY and her children Robert Charles Fletcher and Alyson Leigh Fletcher; Charles James Weyandt, Jr., and his wife Robinanne Rice Weyandt of Stevensville, MD., and their children Jennifer Anne Knutzen and Charles James Weyandt, III; Betsy Jane Barton and her husband Dr. John H Barton, Jr. of Raleigh, NC and their children, John Homer Barton, III and Stephen Michael Barton; Peter Jon Weyandt and his wife Carla Jo Adkins Weyandt of State College, PA, and their children, Heather Michele Weyandt and Gretchen Elizabeth Weyandt; and Michael Jared Weyandt and his wife Megan Garner Weyandt of Julian, PA, and their children Alexis Jane Weyandt and Matthew Jared Weyandt.

Chuck graduated from Windber High School in 1956. He graduated from The Pennsylvania State University in 1960 with the Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology. He worked for Corning Glass Works as a Laboratory Glass Sales Engineer and for Jones and Laughlin Steel Corp. as a Coal Chemist.

Chuck enrolled at Duquesne University School of Law in 1963 and graduated with honors in 1967. He served as an editor of the Duquesne University Law Review. After his first year in law school he accepted employment as a research assistant for the University of Pittsburgh Hospital Law Manual and was promoted to the editor of the publication before graduating from Duquesne.

He began practicing law in July, 1967 in State College as an associate to Wayland Dunaway. They formed a partnership in 1969. The partnership grew to a six partner firm engaged in the general practice of law until he retired in September, 2003. He was a member of the Centre County Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He served time as president of the Centre County Bar Association and the State Board of Governors.

Chuck was an avid outdoorsman. He fished and hunted throughout central and south-central Pennsylvania. He enjoyed elk hunting in the White Mountain Wilderness Area of New Mexico, in Colorado, and Idaho. He was a life member of the Port Matilda Sportsman's Club and a life and sustaining member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed sharing in these endeavors with his children, grandchildren and friends. In addition to this, he was a practiced woodworker and a loyal Penn State sports fan.

He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and a past member of Pine Hall Lutheran Church. He served on councils of both churches.

Visitation will be from 2 until 4 p.m. and 6 until 8 p.m., on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College.

Memorial service will be at 3 p.m., on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Grace Lutheran Church, 205 S Garner Street, State College, with the Reverend Scott Schul officiating.

Inurnment will be in Grace Lutheran Church Columbarium.
