SUMMARY:Moss Farm Film & Arts Invitational at Rhoneymeade
DESCRIPTION:Moss Farm Film & Arts Invitational at Rhoneymeade brings together a curated selection of films from around the world exploring our relationship with land\, culture\, and ecology.\n\nSet among the fields\, forests\, sculpture\, and historic buildings of Rhoneymeade in Centre County\, Pennsylvania\, the weekend combines film with informal conversations with visiting artists\, hands-on workshops\, music\, and making with natural materials including earth pigments and botanical inks.\n\nSaturday evening will include a performance by Centre County singer/songwriter Eric Ian Farmer followed by an outdoor film screening\, with Boal City Brewing joining us for the evening.\n\nOn Sunday\, an Act 48 Professional Development Workshop for educators and teaching artists will explore Moss Farm’s Art of Nature framework — Stone → Plant → Animal → Love (Community) — through natural materials and hands-on making\, connecting those mediums to larger ideas of courage\, gratitude\, peace\, hope\, and community. Act 48 sponsored by PAEA. The educator workshop is separately ticketed.\n\nThe weekend will also include the unveiling of Moss Farm’s limited-edition Rewilding Series guitars\, hand built in Montreal by Wild Artisan Fellowship recipient Brett James Hawes of Belvedere Guitars.\n\nProgramming takes place throughout the weekend across Rhoneymeade’s indoor and outdoor spaces\, creating a small\, informal setting to experience films\, meet visiting artists\, make things\, spend time outside\, and take part in the work and ideas surrounding the films.\n\nAdditional program information and event updates are available at MossFarm.org. \n\nSpecial Events

SUMMARY:The Met: Live in HD - Così fan tutte
DESCRIPTION:The Met: Live in HD season kicks off with Mozart’s satirical comedy of fickle young love\, one of the composer’s most sublime creations. Phelim McDermott’s “colorful\, inventive” (The New York Times) staging\, inspired by Coney Island in the 1950s\, sets the uproarious story at a boardwalk amusement park\, where the two pairs of lovers at the heart of the tale find themselves on one emotional—and literal—thrill ride after another. Soprano Federica Lombardi and mezzo-soprano Samantha Hankey sing Fiordiligi and Dorabella\, opposite tenor Duke Kim and baritone Andrey Zhilikhovsky as Ferrando and Guglielmo. Bass-baritone Gerald Finley reprises his portrayal of the cynical Don Alfonso\, with soprano Ana María Martínez as the witty maid Despina. This live cinema transmission is part of the Met’s award-winning Live in HD series\, bringing opera to movie theaters across the globe. \n\n\n\n\nSpecial Events

SUMMARY:Mary Retreat
DESCRIPTION:“Hail favored one! The Lord is with you.” But she was greatly troubled at what was said and pondered what sort of greeting this might be. Luke 1:28-29. Throughout her life Mary “pondered” in prayer as to what God was asking of her in her sorrows and sufferings. Mary’s life was not one of luxury\, nor was it free from grief or pain. How do we manage suffering\, sorrows\, and the puzzling question of “why” in our daily lives? Mary is there to help us through prayer and is our greatest intercessor to Jesus. We will look at ways we might strengthen our prayer life in relationship to praying with Mary\, Mother of God\, and mother of us all. \n\n\n\n\nSpecial Events

SUMMARY:Artist Talk: Wonjung Choi
DESCRIPTION:Wonjung Choi is a Korean-born\, Virginia-based artist whose multidisciplinary work delves into the complexities of identity formation in a globalized world. Through labor-intensive installations\, sculptures\, and research-driven practices\, she examines the intricate process of cultural evolution\, where migration plays a central role. Her art reflects a continuous exploration of the self\, navigating the intersections of regional and global identities\, and questioning the very nature of identity in a rapidly changing world. Choi’s work is a testament to the transformative power of cultural hybridity\, encapsulating the essence of human adaptability and evolution. \n\nThis program is presented by the School of Visual Arts\, Anderson Lecture Series and co-sponsored by the Palmer Museum of Art. \n\nSpecial Events

SUMMARY:Artist Talk: Ryan RedCorn
DESCRIPTION:Ryan RedCorn (𐓡𐓘𐓬𐓘𐓯𐓶𐓲𐓟) is an Osage photographer\, filmmaker\, graphic designer\, and comedian. He was a writer/story editor and actor on FX’s critically acclaimed Reservation Dogs\, and his photographic work is represented in the Palmer Museum’s permanent collection. As he describes himself: Ryan RedCorn (Osage) was born in Tahlequah\, Oklahoma\, into a family of preachers\, politicians and salesmen\, which are all the same occupation. He is the ilonpa of Raymond and Elizabeth RedCorn\, and the object of jealousy from his three younger brothers Jon\, Alex\, and Studebaker\, who between them have four master’s degrees and two PhD’s. Ryan\, however\, took six-and-a-half years to get an art degree in visual communications from the University of Kansas. To the surprise of many\, Ryan wasn’t as stupid as everyone thought\, and has been able to translate his education\, his eldest son entitlement\, and his family lineage into something some people think is valuable. Ryan is currently creating a feature documentary on the history of his Osage people and hopes no one kills him once it’s completed. \n\n Sign language interpretation will be provided for this artist talk.\n\nArrive 5–5:30 p.m. for gallery viewing with Janine Boldt\, curator of American art \n\nSpecial Events
