YMCA of the USA honors Thompson as Congressional Champion

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Rep. Glenn Thompson (R-PA) was named a YMCA Congressional Champion in Washington, D.C., on Feb. 15 for his support of the YMCA and his leadership in addressing food insecurity.

“The Y is fortunate to have elected leaders such as Rep. Thompson,” said Mel Curtis, YMCA of Centre County anti-hunger director. “His leadership in addressing hunger is just one example of his work to improve lives throughout the state of Pennsylvania and the rest of the country.”

Thompson has been very supportive of YMCA of Centre County’s Anti-Hunger Program in assisting with the educational farm project, food distributions and providing information to assist with sustaining food chains. During COVID-19, he was on the front lines at food distributions and helped with food donations.

Thompson was also a key player in securing a grant through USDA Rural for the “Travelin’ Table,” a project the YMCA has partnered with Cen Clear Child Services to implement.
