STATE COLLEGE — On Monday, Sept. 8, State College Area School Board of Directors recognized Amy Bader and Gretchen Brandt for 10 years of service on the board.
Bader, who serves as board president, and Brandt received honor roll certificates from the Pennsylvania School Boards Association prior to the meeting. The awards honor school board members for dedication and leadership in giving unselfishly of their time and talents for the betterment of public schools and students, according to the PSBA.
“We would like to join PSBA in extending our appreciation to Amy and Gretchen for their long-standing commitment to our students and to public education, ” said Curtis Johnson, SCASD superintendent.
Also at the meeting, the board heard updates on the Park Forest Middle School and Mount Nittany Elementary School projects, and on possible future stormwater management work at Ferguson Township Elementary School.
In other business, the board approved:
A request to seek bids to expand the wrestling room at the State High North building into a space that is currently being used for storage. The project is being considered because of a proposed donation that would cover the costs of designs and renovations.
The retirement of Karen Wiser. Wiser had been on approved leave and now the board has accepted her retirement. Tina Chambers Greene has been serving as interim principal at Park Forest Middle School.
