BELLEFONTE – The Bellefonte boys soccer team went 3-0 over a week, earning wins at Central, 5-1, on Sept. 16, at home over Bald Eagle Area, 2-1, on Sept. 18 and at Johnstown, 8-0, on Sept. 22.
Conelle Stabinger scored both of Bellefonte’s goals against BEA. BEA got a goal from Connor Maney on what Eagles coach Jason Bair called a “heel flick” into the Bellefonte net.
“It was a SportsCenter top 10 moment for sure,” Bair said. “I am so proud of the guys. We played a really, really a good game tonight. Hard-fought game – nothing to hang our heads about. I think this is going to be a great moment for them to move in the right direction.”
BEA goalkeeper Henry Bacon made nine saves, while Eli Davis made two stops for Bellefonte.
Gage Rankin scored the first goal against Central off of an assist from Stabinger. Stabinger scored the second goal, with the assist going to Jamin Ondrasik.
In the second half, Cameron Ballas scored off of another assist from Stabinger. John Servant scored the fourth goal, and Keegan Timblin booted the fifth goal for Bellefonte, which outshot Central, 17-4.
The Red Raiders improved to 8-1 with the win over Johnstown.
ST. JOSEPH’S CATHOLIC ACADEMY BOYS
The St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy boys team went 1-2, but the win was a 3-0 shutout of Bald Eagle Area on Sept. 20 at home.
The WolfPack (3-6) were shutout at East Juniata, 4-0, on Sept. 15 and at home by Halifax, 4-0, on Sept. 17.
Isaiah Crispen scored two of the goals against BEA in the first half, while Thomas Rokita scored the third goal in the second half. Charlie Ramos had 11 saves to earn the shutout in goal.
BALD EAGLE AREA BOYS
Before it lost to the WolfPack and Bellefonte, Bald Eagle Area beat Clearfield, 3-1, on Sept. 16 at home.
Maney and Kayson Tice scored goals in the last 5 minutes of the first half to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead at halftime. Parker Dubbs scored in the second half off an assist from Maney.
Bacon made three saves in goal.
STATE COLLEGE BOYS
The State College boys team played in three close games, going 2-1 in those games, before blowing out Cedar Cliff, 5-1, on Sept. 22 at home.
They won at Carlisle, 2-0, on Sept. 18 and at Selinsgrove, 1-0, in overtime on Sept. 20. The Little Lions (7-3-2) began the week with a 1-0 loss to Mechanicsburg on Sept. 16 at home.
PENNS VALLEY BOYS
Penns Valley boys soccer player Luke Ruoff was announced as the homecoming king, while girls star Ellie Romig was named the queen on Sept. 19 during the football game against Bellefonte.
The Penns Valley boys (5-3-1) earned a 1-0 win at Huntingdon on Sept. 16 in its only game of the last week.
Ruoff scored the lone goal of the game on a header off of an assist from Ethan Roland in the second half. Penns Valley goalkeeper Owen Robb earned his fourth shutout.
PHILIPSBURG-OSCEOLA BOYS
The Philipsburg-Osceola boys team (1-7) was overwhelmed at Hollidaysburg, 9-0, on Sept. 16. That had followed a 6-0 win at United, which the Centre County Gazette reported about in last week’s edition.
Owen Naugle scored two of Hollidaysburg’s goals. Drealyn Ross, Bryce Hollingshead, Devin Walters, Alex Arbogast, Caleb Hileman and Caiden Galioto also scored.
BELLEFONTE GIRLS
The Bellefonte girls captured a 3-0 win over Bald Eagle Area on Sept. 18 at Alumni Stadium and an 11-0 romp at Johnstown.
The Lady Red Raiders got goals and an assist from Reese Patterson and Madyson Miller and another goal from Kaylee Knepp against the Lady Eagles. In addition to the shutout loss to Bellefonte, BEA was shut out at Clearfield, 8-0, on Sept. 16.
Against Johnstown, eight different players scored for the Lady Red Raiders (5-4). Knepp and Delaney Badger had two goals and an assist, respectively, while Brinley DeWeese had two goals. Miller scored a goal and assisted on three other goals.
Laila Packer had a goal and an assist, while Elizabeth Brezler, Brooke Whitman and Triniti Jackson booted in goals. Addalyn DeWeese had an assist. The Lady Red Raiders took 51 shots on goal.
Bellefonte goalkeepers Ronni Spotts and Piper Rock combined for seven saves.
STATE COLLEGE GIRLS
The State College girls team went 1-2 in the three games it played, winning at Mifflin County, 1-0, on Sept. 20 and losing at Mechanicsburg, 6-1, on Sept. 16 and at Cedar Cliff, 2-1, on Sept. 22.
Leah Sampsel scored against Mechanicsburg and against Mifflin County.
“State College was on the front foot all match, peppering their goalkeeper with shots,” State College coach Kent Dwyer said. “There was an outstanding effort from State College wing midfielder Shaelyn Dwyer with creation in the flanks. Leila Crandall and Maya Birkenholtz owned the central midfield.”
PENNS VALLEY GIRLS
The Penns Valley girls rolled to a 9-0 win over Philipsburg-Osceola on Sept. 17 at home.
Homecoming queen Romig netted a hat trick against P-O.
