State police responded to a single-vehicle crash that occurred around 10 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11, along Valley View Road in Benner Township. According to police, a 19-year-old Moshannon woman was driving a 2017 Kia Forte with four passengers at an “unsafe speed” when a deer ran out into the road. The 19-year-old Moshannon woman swerved the vehicle to avoid hitting the deer when the car left the road and ran into a tree before entering a rollover and coming to a final rest. The vehicle then became engulfed in flames, police said. The 19-year-old Moshannon woman was taken to the hospital by helicopter to be treated for suspected serious injuries. Three of the four passengers were transported to the hospital with suspected moderate injuries, and the fourth passenger was reported to be uninjured. None of the individuals involved were believed to have been wearing a seatbelt, and the 19-year-old Moshannon woman was cited for the crash, police said.


State police responded to a crash around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 12, along Sunnyside Hollow Road in Worth Township. According to police, a 79-year-old Port Matilda man was driving a 2008 Nissan Frontier when he began to slow down and initiated his turn signal to make a right turn onto a private drive when a 47-year-old woman driving a 2009 Toyota Highlander attempted to pass the Nissan Frontier on the right and hit the front end of the vehicle. Police did not report any injuries.


State police responded to an incident of harassment involving two juveniles around 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 13, along South Eagle Valley Road in Boggs Township. According to police, a 17-year-old boy was arrested for allegedly “sexually humping” the back of a school bus seat that the victim, a 9-year-old boy, was sitting in. Police also said the arrestee was accused of slapping, poking and rubbing the victim’s head. Charges were filed through Centre County juvenile probation.
