BELLEFONTE — Bellefonte girls soccer team continued its success over fellow Centre County foes with a 2-0 win over Penns Valley on Aug. 27 at Rogers Stadium.
Mady Miller scored both goals for the Lady Red Raiders, who beat Philipsburg-Osceola 8-0 to begin the season. Addalyn DeWeese assisted on the first Miller goal, while Laila Packer assisted on the second boot.
Bellefonte goalkeeper Ronni Spotts made five saves in earning her second shutout.
The Lady Red Raiders were District 6 Class 3A runners-up last season.
The Lady Rams (1-2) later earned a 2-1 double overtime win at Central Mountain on Aug. 30. No details were available from that game.
BALD EAGLE AREA GIRLS
Bald Eagle Area girls team dropped a 5-0 decision at Central on Aug. 27 to fall to 0-3 on the season.
Central got two goals from Carli Hart and a goal and assist from Leya Hazenstab.
BEA goalkeeper Emily Steffan had a busy day, making 19 saves in the loss.
“We had trouble holding possession today,” BEA coach Jared Moore said. “We also made a few costly errors in the first half that cost us. Savanna Albright played a great game on defense today. She worked hard clearing balls all game long.”
STATE COLLEGE GIRLS
State College girls team has lost by one goal in all three games so far this season, including home losses to Cedar Cliff 1-0 on Aug. 27 and to Williamsport 3-2 in overtime on Aug. 30.

BALD EAGLE AREA BOYS
Bald Eagle Area boys soccer team opened the season with two wins, winning at Bishop Guilfoyle 2-1 on Aug. 26 at Tom Irwin Field and at home against Central 6-4 on Aug. 28.
BEA senior Conner Maney achieved a hat trick against Central, scoring three goals and assisting on an Easton Grimes goal with late in the game.
The Eagles charged out to a 4-0 lead. Grimes scored the first of his two goals and Maney followed with a score off a corner kick to make the score 2-0 at halftime. Maney scored again off an assist from Kyle Uberti for BEA’s third goal. BEA’s Parker Dubbs made it 4-0 with a goal.
Grimes scored off a feed from Maney to give BEA a 5-1 lead. Tice then assist on Maney’s third goal for a 6-2 lead.
“It was a good game,” BEA coach Jason Bair said. “I’m proud of our team. We are learning in each game. Love our teamwork and no-quit attitude.”
Against BG, the Eagles got two goals from Maney, who scored at the 48-minute mark and at the 52-minute mark off an assist from Tice.
Between Maney’s goals, BG’s Jimmy Colombo scored off an assist from Brenden Young. It was one of the few shots BG got on BEA goalkeeper Henry Bacon, who made three saves.
“Good first game,” BEA coach Jason Bair said. “We worked hard, kept a positive attitude and we were able to come out with a win. I’m proud of my guys for working together.”
PHILIPSBURG-OSCEOLA BOYS
Philipsburg-Osceola boys also lost to Tyrone, 3-0, at home on Aug. 28. Tyrone’s Karter Bokulich, Gavin Tuskovich and Noah Gulvas to help the Golden Eagles improve to 2-0.
P-O goalkeeper Matt Thompson made eight saves, while Tyrone’s Jaryn Wilson had four saves.
STATE COLLEGE BOYS
State College boys team rolled to an 8-1 throttling of Williamsport on Aug. 30 on the road. That rout came two days after a 1-0 loss at Cedar Cliff.

Bellefonte boys team, much like the girls team, opened the season with wins over Centre County opponents on the road, beating Philipsburg-Osceola 3-0 on Aug. 26 and Penns Valley 1-0 on Aug. 28.
