Juniper Village’s Wellspring Memory Care receives excellence award

CENTRE COUNTY — Juniper Village at Brookline recently announced that the Wellspring Memory Care was awarded the Excellence in Care Dementia Care Program of Distinction again from the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.

“Since first receiving our certification from the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America in 2014, this recertification is a powerful testament to our unwavering commitment to those living with dementia,” Liz Plozner-Chalfa, acting regional director of Juniper Village at Brookline, said.

“It reflects our continued dedication to meeting their evolving needs, supporting their families with compassion and nurturing the spirit of life in every interaction. We are honored to uphold these standards and proud to continue making a meaningful difference.”

The recertification reflects Wellspring Memory Care’s commitment to in-person memory care and the dedication to create support, engagement and a compassionate environment for residents living with dementia and Alzheimer’s.

“The recertification follows a rigorous evaluation by AFA specialists, including a comprehensive on-site assessment that reviewed training, safety protocols, programming, dining services, environmental quality and resident engagement,” Juniper Village explained in a news release following the award.

“Juniper Village at Brookline’s Wellspring Memory Care team earned high marks across the board, demonstrating exceptional care practices and a deep commitment to residents’ well-being.”

According to Juniper, evaluators of the award noted the three welcoming dining rooms, spaces that feature adaptive equipment for eating, visual meal guides and person-centered approaches to bring choice to the residents.

Another highlight was Wellspring Memory Care’s approach to daily engagement. Programming offers residents opportunities for connecting, mental stimulation and fulfillment.

“Family members shared overwhelmingly positive feedback, describing programs as ‘beautiful’ and praising the welcoming atmosphere that encourages their involvement,” the news release continued.

The physical environment at Brookline was also celebrated with a clean, bright and well-maintained community. Additionally, there are plans underway to update the space even more with soothing colors for comfort.

“In addition to internal excellence, Juniper Village at Brookline continues to demonstrate strong ties to the greater State College area, with community engagement recognized as a meaningful part of its care model,” the news release remarked. “Reviewers noted not only the professionalism of the associates but the evident compassion that shines through in every interaction.”

This is now the third time that Juniper Village at Brookline Wellspring Memory Care has been certified by the AFA, making it part of a select group of memory care communities across the country that are recognized for maintaining high standards in dementia and memory care.
