BELLEFONTE— On Monday, Nov. 25, Gesinger’s new medical facility in Bellefonte opened its doors at 226 Buckaroo Lane, to new and returning patients.
The $15 million construction of Geisinger ConvenientCare has allowed for the expansion of their facilities compared to their prior location at 174 Buckaroo Lane. The new facility with 22,923 square feet has 28 patient rooms, while the old facility only had 16.
Geisinger has also expanded on their services. They will have primary care services now and include imaging services like ultrasound, x-rays, laboratory and dermatology. All of the primary caregivers from the old location were relocated to the new facility.
“The relocation of our primary care and ConvenientCare walk-in clinics in Bellefonte is a benefit for community members looking for easy-to-access health care services closer to home,” Michelle Holt, a Centre County resident and the associate vice president for Geisinger community medicine, said in a statement.
On weekdays Geisinger ConvenientCare will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends. However, they will only accept walk-in appointments until 7:45 p.m. on weekdays and until 4:45 p.m. on weekends.
“The addition of this site to our expanding network not only makes health care easier for our neighbors now, but it also includes space for more outreach services in the future,” Holt said.
Along with this new addition, Geisinger is working on a $12 million expansion project at Geisinger Helthplex State College in Port Matilda.
Geisinger ConvenientCare is currently taking appointments for returning patients and will be accepting new patients in early 2025.
