STATE COLLEGE — The busiest time of the year is upon us — shopping for that perfect gift, wrapping, cooking, baking and cleaning — and “down time” is not always a frequent occurrence in our hectic holiday lives.
But no worries! The Centre County Gazette has found a way for our readers to take a few minutes out of their busy lives to relax with a fun game — and possibly win a prize as well!
The Gazette Holiday Hunt begins in next week’s edition, which can be found in the usual places throughout Centre County.
This holly jolly hunt is a holiday scavenger hunt where readers can scour the pages of The Gazette to find hidden holiday icons in advertisements throughout the publication.
It’s simple.
Look through the newspaper, search through the ads to find the festive icons, and then write them down on the entry form that you will find on this page. This form will also appear in future December editions.
There are 10 ads in every December edition with a hidden icon:
- Dec. 4 – Candy Cane
- Dec. 11 – Star
- Dec. 18 – Christmas Tree
- Dec. 25 – Gingerbread Man
Every time you find the ad with the hidden icon, write down the name of the advertiser and the page number where the ad was located.
At the end of the month, mail your completed form to Gazette Holiday Hunt, 401 S. Allen St., Suite 101, State College, PA 16801. You may also drop your form off at our office between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Forms must be received by Jan. 7, 2026. The winner will be chosen from the qualified entries received and announced on our Facebook page, @thecentrecountygazette on Jan. 8, 2026. It will also be announced in print in our Jan. 15, 2026 edition.
Only one entry per household is permitted, and no copies will be accepted. Prizes must be picked up at our Allen Street office.
Prizes have been donated by the following contest sponsors:
- Fisher’s Shoe & Saddle Shop of Madisonburg
- Belle Mercantile of Bellefonte
- Weaver’s Store, Inc. of Spring Mills
- Wetzler Funeral Homes of Bellefonte and Howard
The Centre County Gazette hopes all our readers enjoy a copy of their community newspaper while they relax and search for the hidden icons.
