Myster Book Club – Bellefonte Library — Thursday, Aug. 28

The Centre  County Library & Historical Museum will host Booked for Murder: Mystery Book Club from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 28, at 200 North Allegheny St. in Bellefonte.

The club pick is “The God of the Woods” by Liz Moore, a haunting literary thriller full of secrets, suspense and family betrayals set in a secluded summer camp.

Friday Concert on the Village Green — Friday, Aug. 29

Jim Colbert & Steve Van Hook will perform the Friday Concert on the Village Green beginning at  7:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 29, at the Lemont Village Green in Lemont.

Guests are encouraged to bring a blanket or chair for sitting and are welcome to bring a picnic.

Ice cream cones will be served by Scout Troop 367, with a contribution to the troop for projects.

Harvest Tasting — Friday, Aug. 29

There will be a Harvest Tasting from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, Aug. 29, at the Arboretum at Penn State in State College.

Guests are invited to come out and explore the flavors of the growing season with a taste of fresh produce grown in the beds of the children’s garden.

Wiscoy’s Dog Ice Cream Social — Friday, Aug. 29

Wiscoy for Animals is hosting its Dog Ice Cream Social from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 29, at the pet supply store in State College.

Guests are invited to the customer appreciation event for ice cream for dogs, ice cream for humans and an opportunity to donate to the Clearfield County SPCA.

Wiscoy for Animals has been owned and operated by Wanda since 1990. With 35 years in business this December, the event showcases the partnership between town and small businesses.

Crickfest — Saturday, Aug. 30

The Penns Valley Conservation Association (PVCA) will host Crickfest from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31, at Coburn Park.

This free, family-friendly event celebrates watershed health, community spirit, and environmental education.

Attendees can enjoy live music, delicious local food, interactive children’s activities, educational displays and a vibrant showcase of regional organizations and vendors.

Print Factory Writing Group — Sunday, Aug. 31

The Print Factory Writing Group will meet at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 31, at the Print Factory in Bellefonte.

The new writing group is aimed at connecting and supporting local writers. Everyone is welcome to bring a project they’re working on or a book they’d like to read.

Arts and Crafts Sale — Sunday, Aug. 31

Unbounded Abilities will host an Arts and Crafts Sale from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 31, Park Forest Village UMC 1833 Park Forest Ave.

Attendees can shop one-of-kind creations by local artists.

All proceeds support Unbounded Abilities mission to provide meaningful employment to individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Nittany Baptist Church Children’s Program — Wednesday, Sept. 3

Nittany Baptist Church will have its AWANA program for kids in grades kindergarten through sixth grade at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 3, at the church in State College.

The program is designed to build a spiritual foundation in children to help them navigate life using the nationally recognized AWANA program. The program will be in building two. For more information, call 814-360-7157.

Storytime – Bellefonte Library — Wednesday, Sept. 3

The Centre County Library and Historical Museum will host Storytime at  11 a.m.  on Wednesday, Sept. 3, at 200 North Allegheny St. in Bellefonte.

Storytime beings with 4 to 5 books focused on a theme and is best for kids aged 3+ that are preparing for Kindergarten and are ready to sit for a longer period of time (20-30 minutes).

Centre Knitters Guild — Thursday, Sept. 4

The Centre County Knitters Guild meets on the first Thursday of every month from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Patton Township Municipal Building.

The first half-hour will include a meet and greet. More information can be found online at centreknittersguild.com.
