Farming accident claims one in Marion Township

MARION TOWNSHIP — The Centre County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the death of a 23-year-old male following a farming accident on Thursday, Sept. 18.

According to a statement from Centre County Chief Deputy Coroner John D. Kubalak, at approximately 3:06 p.m., emergency services were dispatched to the 5500 block of Jacksonville Road after reports of an injured individual.

Emergency responders from the Howard Fire Department, Beech Creek-Blanchard EMS , Pennsylvania State Police and the Centre County Coroner’s Office arrived on scene and determined that the victim had become entangled in a silage chopper/blower unit while filling a corn silo on the property.

Rescue and recovery operations were completed with the assistance of the Howard Fire Department and Beech Creek-Blanchard EMS personnel. The victim was pronounced

deceased at the scene. This incident remains under investigation by PSP in coordination with the coroner’s office
