CENTRE COUNTY — Everybody from Centre County is in.
The District 6 Girls’ Volleyball Tournament will begin with first round action on Oct. 22 for the Single-A bracket and continue through Nov. 1 for the A and AA finals.
All six of the Centre County high school teams qualified for the tournament. St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy will be in A tournament, Penns Valley, Philipsburg-Osceola and Bald Eagle Area in AA, Bellefonte in AAA and State College in AAAA.
St. Joseph’s Academy is seeded No. 3 in the A tournament after an 11-6 season that ended with four consecutive victories in the final two weeks of the regular season.
The WolfPack beat Juniata, 3-1, Mount Union, 3-0, Juniata again, 3-1, and Selinsgrove, 3-0.
The team has a bye in the first round and will take on the winner of the No. 6 Claysburg-Kimmel vs. No. 11 Williamsburg on Monday, Oct. 27 at SJCA. The winner of that match will see either No. 7 Juniata Valley, No. 10 Conemaugh Valley or No. 2 Purchase Line in the semifinals on Oct. 29.
In AA, Penns Valley is ranked No. 10, Philipsburg-Osceola is No. 7 and Bald Eagle Area is No. 2.
No. 10 Penns Valley finished its season with a 12-8 record, but the Lady Rams finished in style with five wins in their last six matches.
In the last three, they beat Bishop Guilfoyle, 3-0, Bellefonte, 3-0, and Mifflin County, 3-0.
Philipsburg-Osceola, ranked No. 7, was 11-5 in 2025 and will face Penns Valley in the first round on Oct. 23 in Philipsburg. P-O bested Tyrone in its last match, but the Mounties fell to AAA Hollidaysburg, 3-1, on Oct. 9.
The winner of the match will take on No. 2 Bald Eagle Area on Oct. 28 in the quarterfinals in Milesburg.
Bald Eagle Area finished with a 16-2 record, winning 9 of its last 10 matches.
The semifinals will take place on Oct. 30 with No. 3 Central Cambria, 16-2, being the favorite to advance.
The AA finals will be held on Nov. 1 at Altoona Area High School.
In AAA, No. 4 Bellefonte will square off against No. 1 Central Mountain on Monday, Oct. 27 at Central Mountain.
CM is 13-1 for the season and just edged No. 2 Hollidaysburg, 17-1, for the top spot in the bracket.
Bellefonte is 5-11 and lost its last two matches to Penns Valley and Huntingdon.
With just four teams in the bracket, the winner will advance to the finals and take on either No. 2 Hollidaysburg or No. 3 Somerset.
Finally, in AAAA, 13-1 State College has already been named the District 6 Champion because none of the other AAAA teams entered the tournament.
The Little Lions had one loss and a perfect 9-0 record in the Mid-Penn Commonwealth Conference.
SC won its final six matches after a tough loss to District 1 power Spring Ford on Sept. 20.
Now the team will advance to the Regional D6-8-10 tournament with a ticket to the PIAA Volleyball Tournament on the line.
The AAAA PIAA Tournament is set to begin with the first round on Nov. 4.
