Thomas Knowles, left, of Philipsburg is pictured with his instructor, Senior International Master 7th degree blackbelt Gary S. Josefik. Knowles recently tested for the international rank of 3rd degree blackbelt in the Korean Martial Art of Tang Soo Do. He has been training in martial arts for over 21 years under Master Josefik. Knowles had to take a written test on his knowledge and history of martial arts, then a physical test consisting of various kicks, punches and hand techniques, forms, conditioning and weapons handling which included the staff, knife and sword.
