STATE COLLEGE — Adult Children of Aging Parents Centre County, an organization dedicated to supporting adult children who are caregivers for their aging parents, will host a free educational event on age-related health conditions on Tuesday, Feb. 11, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Centre Region Active Adult Center in the Nittany Mall.
“Are you or a loved one navigating the challenges of aging? With longer lifespans come new health concerns, both for aging adults and the caregivers who support them,” a press release from ACAP said. The free program will provide important information on age-related health conditions and strategies to assist them.
The program will cover:
- Most common health conditions connected to aging
- Associated risk factors and symptoms of age-related health conditions
- Strategies to manage the health of the parent and the mental health for the caregiver
- Resources for caregivers
“While the program does not provide individual diagnostic or treatment information,” the press release noted, “it will offer practical insights to help caregivers become more informed and confident in their roles.”
The program will be presented by Dr. Miachel McShane, a doctor of internal medicine at Penn State Health.
