The Village of Lemont is just north of State College off Route 26. It is 1.2 square miles with a population over just over 2000 inhabitants. Lemont is very close to town, yet maintains a small community feel. It has an eclectic mix of home styles, shops and restaurants. A National Historic District, Lemont, is home to many historic homes and businesses. The John Thompson Coal Sheds and Granary is the last remaining wooden grain elevator in Pennsylvania and is being restored by the Lemont Village Association.
The Mount Nittany Conservancy, a group dedicated to the preservation and enjoyment of Mount Nittany, is headquartered in Lemont. The Art Alliance of Central Pennsylvania, a nonprofit organization that supports the visual arts in Centre County is also located there.
Spring Creek flows through the town and Mount Nittany features prominently.
