BELLEFONTE
Bellefonte hiked its record to 10-3 by recording six pins in a 57-13 rout of Huntingdon on Jan. 14. The Red Raiders got pins from Tyler Benner (182), Max Barrier (285), Aidan O’Shea (106), Aaron Little (113), Nathan Smith (120) and Andrew McChesney (152). Ethan Rossman rolled up 24 points in a 24-7 technical fall at 195. Alex Coppolo (132) and Ethan Richner (160) also won by technical fall. The Raiders were scheduled to wrestle Central at home on Jan. 22 before another big home match with Central Mountain on Jan. 24.
BALD EAGLE AREA
Bald Eagle Area went 1-1 in dual meets last week, hammering Tyrone, 58-16, on Jan. 14 and losing to Central Mountain, 44-18, on Jan. 16. Against Tyrone, BEA got pins from Chandler Burns
(220), David Close (285), Isaac Packer (132), Gage McClenahan (145), Zander Ballock (152) and Camden Comly
(160). Coen Bainey (106) had a major decision, and BEA picked up two forfeit wins. Wins were hard to come by against Central Mountain, but McClenahan (145) and Cooper Gilham (120) recorded pins. The Eagles fell to 9-3 with the loss. The Eagles are scheduled to comepte in the Ultimate Warrior Tournament on Friday Jan. 24 and 25 at West Branch.
STATE COLLEGE
State College went 1-2 in dual meets last week, beating Central Mountain, 40-22, on Jan. 14 and falling to Chambersburg, 38-30, on Jan. 13 and Cumberland Valley, 37-34, on Jan. 16. Against Central Mountain, the Little Lions got pins from Carter Weaverling (132), Owen Woolcott (138), Braden Newby (170) and Lance Urbas (182). The Little Lions found themselves in a 17-0 hole after the first three bouts against Chambersburg before Urbas beat Carson Mello, 5-2, at 170. Tate McLaughlin (195) and Hayden Cunningham (106) had pins for the Lions, and Woolcott (132) won by technical fall.
Against Cumberland Valley, State College had pins from Harrison Hoopes (152), Urbas (170), Cunningham (106) and Weaverling (126). The Lions fell to 7-4. The Little Lions’ only time on the mat this week is a match scheduled at Carlisle on Jan. 23.
PHILIPSBURG-OSCEOLA
Philipsburg-Osceola pounded out a 40-33 win at Central while missing a couple starters on Jan. 16. The Mounties, wrestling without Chase Chapman
(138) and Nick Bryan (120), got pins from Nick Coudriet
(113), Luke Hughes (145), Hunter Weitoish (160), Parker Moore (195) and Tyler Anderson (285). P-O forfeited four weights, and neither team had a 220-pounder. The 9-5 Mounties were scheduled to host Tyrone on Jan. 21.
PENNS VALLEY
Penns Valley split its two matches last week, losing to Clearfield, 43-32, on Jan. 14, and eking out a 37-36 win over Mifflinburg on Jan. 16. Against Clearfield, the Rams got pins from Malachi DuVall (160), Andrew Sharer (195), Justin Darlington (113) and Nate Long (126), Clayton Royer (145) breezed to a 16-0 technical fall in 2:20. The Rams were losing 36-31 to Mifflinburg going into the last bout, but Sharer came through in the clutch with a pin in 58 seconds to give PV the dual meet victory. DuVall (152) had the only other pin for the Rams.
