Penn State Football: Safety Kevin Winston Jr. Commits to Nittany Lions

Penn State football has now added three secondary prospects to its Class of 2022 this week.

Maryland safety Kevin Winston Jr. committed to the Nittany Lions Saturday afternoon. The three-star prospect announced his commitment via Twitter.

The DeMatha Catholic standout chose James Franklin’s program over his in-state Terrapins, as he narrowed his final choices down to the two programs earlier this month. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound safety is ranked as the No. 45 prospect at his position in the nation for the 2022 recruiting class and the No. 13 overall player from Maryland, according to 247Sports.

Winston has received 19 offers during this recruiting cycle so far, including looks from Michigan State and Notre Dame.

Winston is the third player to commit to the Nittany Lions this week, all of whom have been defensive backs. He now joins four-star prospects Cristian Driver and Cam Miller as the recent additions to Penn State’s defense, along with Tyrece Mills and Jordan Allen, who both committed earlier this year.

Penn State’s 2022 recruiting class now has 23 committed players and is ranked No. 2 in the nation.
