Penn State football has moved its weight room back from its temporary location in Holuba Hall and back into the Lasch Building as the weight room expansion project draws to a close. According to a program spokesperson the project still has a few steps remaining — mainly in the area of branding and visual upgrades — but otherwise the Nittany Lions are back into their permanent home. The renovations also included upgrades to other areas in the building.

The project’s completion was delayed slightly due to worldwide supply chain issues but did not impact Penn State’s ability to operate as usual. “That’s been awesome, that we’ve been there,” Penn State defensive tackle Nick Tarburton said after practice on Wednesday. “It’s beautiful. It’s a good spot to work out for sure.”

The expansion, which has been ongoing for the better part of the past year, is the latest of a multi-stage plan to renovate various aspects of Penn State football’s headquarters. While the weight room expansion has been underway, the football program – among others – had been using a makeshift weight room facility setup across the parking lot at Holuba Hall. That setup has since been removed Penn State’s indoor practice facility. The media has not yet been allowed inside the newly renovated space, in turn photos are limited to the exterior of the building.

The project boasts an approved budget of $48 million – is the most noticeable change to the Lasch Building in recent years and the first of a two phase project that will feature internal and external upgrades throughout the building. The second phase of the project recently went out to bid among contractors.
