A new service on Penn State’s campus will help fans get to Nittany Lions wrestling matches with a bit more ease.
Penn State Athletics and Penn State Transportation Services announced on Wednesday a new partnership that will provide a free shuttle service between Rec Hall and the university’s West Parking Deck. The shuttle loop will remain in operation throughout the remainder of the Nittany Lions’ 2022-23 wrestling season.
The shuttle service will begin 90 minutes before each match and run until post-match traffic has cleared, according to a news release. Each vehicle can accommodate wheelchairs.
The West Deck, which opened in 2021, sits between Penn State’s Earth and Engineering Sciences Building and White Course Apartments along White Course Drive. It boasts more than 1,600 spaces and can accommodate vehicles that stand up to 7’9″ — a foot taller than the Nittany Deck on the northern edge of campus.
An interactive map of the garage is available online.
The West Deck traditionally offers $1 hourly parking rates with a $16 maximum daily fee. Discounted prepaid parking rates are available online until midnight the night before each wrestling match.
No. 1-ranked Penn State is 3-0 on the young season following victories over Lock Haven, Rider and Lehigh. The Nittany Lions will host six more home matches throughout the 2022-23 season, but not all will pack the Rec Hall bleachers.
Remaining home contests include:
- Oregon State — 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 11
- Michigan — 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 20 (at the Bryce Jordan Center)
- Michigan State — 1 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 22
- Iowa — 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 27 (at the Bryce Jordan Center)
- Maryland — 1 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 12
- Clarion — 1 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 19
