One month removed from winning another NCAA title, Penn State wrestling continues to make some offseason additions.
Class of 2022 standout Connor Pierce committed to Cael Sanderson’s program on Tuesday night. Pierce wrapped his career at Harbor Creek High School with a 139-18 record after claiming four PIAA 2A state medals, including a second-place finish at last month’s tournament.
“After a long journey, I am excited to announce that I will be furthering my academic and athletic career at the Pennsylvania State University,” Pierce wrote on Instagram.
Pierce most recently wrestled at 138 pounds at Harbor Creek, going 37-1 with his only loss coming in the PIAA final. Some experts figure he might settle in at 133 or 141 pounds when he’s wrestling with the Nittany Lions next year.
Pierce’s commitment to Penn State serves as the latest strong pickup for Sanderson’s staff. The Nittany Lions recently received a verbal pledge from Class of 2025 star Dalton Perry and earned another commitment from Ohio State transfer Will Betancourt, who’s expected to compete at 125 pounds
