Penn State men’s lacrosse is back atop the Big Ten.
The Nittany Lions defeated Johns Hopkins 16-8 on Saturday in Piscataway, New Jersey, to win the Big Ten Tournament championship for the first time since 2019 and second time ever.
Led by a three-goal performance from Kyle Lehman, plus 10 other scorers, Penn State pulled away in the second half to clinch a comfortable victory. A dominant showing on faceoffs allowed the Nittany Lions to maintain possession and nearly double up the Blue Jays in shots.
To get there, Penn State posted a 7-5 regular season record, including a 3-2 mark in conference play, earning a first-round bye in the tournament. The Nittany Lions then took on Maryland in the semifinal round, winning 8-6 in a defensive struggle including three goals from Hunter Aquino.
Head coach Jeff Tambroni’s squad also earned a four-way share of the regular season Big Ten title, along with Johns Hopkins, Maryland and Ohio State, who all finished 3-2 in conference action.
With Saturday’s win, the Nittany Lions punched their ticket to the NCAA tournament for the fourth consecutive season. Though they’ve never claimed a national championship, the team reached the semifinals in 2019, 2023 and 2025.
