The status of two key Penn State defensive players is unclear ahead of Saturday’s White Out against Washington. Dani Dennis-Sutton, a starting defensive end, and defensive tackle Coziah Izzard have both been ruled questionable prior to kickoff, per the Big Ten’s availability report.
This marks the second consecutive game that Dennis-Sutton has been ruled questionable after he was limited to just five snaps in a 20-13 loss to Ohio State last weekend. He was an active participant at Wednesday’s practice viewing session, and Franklin said after practice that Dennis-Sutton felt “a lot better” this Sunday than he did last week.
Izzard has appeared in all eight games this season, tallying nine tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss.
For the first time since the Nittany Lions’ trip to USC on Oct. 12, freshman running back Quinton Martin Jr. has been cleared to play. He will likely return to his role as the team’s third-string running back behind Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen.
Despite participating in Wednesday’s practice viewing session, linebacker Keon Wylie and wide receiver Kaden Saunders have been ruled out. An injury has kept Wylie sideline for the season’s entirety, but his presence in practice should be a promising sign regarding his return.
Saunders, who entered the year as the team’s primary punt returner, is set to miss his fifth consecutive game.
Also ruled out is safety Kevin Winston Jr., tight end Joey Schlaffer, running back Cam Wallace, defensive end Zuriah Fisher, wide receiver Jake Spencer, tight end Andrew Rappleyea and kicker Sander Sahaydak.
