Penn State is making another coaching change.
The Nittany Lions are hiring wide receivers coach Noah Pauley from Iowa State, according to a report by On3’s Pete Nakos. Pauley spent the previous three seasons with the Cyclones under new Penn State head coach Matt Campbell.
Pauley was named FootballScoop’s Wide Receiver Coach of the Year in 2024 after coaching Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel, who both eclipsed 1,000 receiving yards last season before being drafted in the first and third rounds, respectively.
Higgins was a two-star recruit, while Noel was a three-star, showcasing Pauley’s ability to develop wide receivers. Prior to arriving at Iowa State, Pauley spent three seasons in the same role with North Dakota State, where he turned two-star recruit Christian Watson into a second-round pick in 2022 to the Green Bay Packers.
He’ll replace Marques Hagans, who’s been with Penn State since 2023 and has failed to produce a drafted wide receiver. The room as a whole also failed to live up to expectations, with transfers Julian Fleming, Trebor Peña, Devonte Ross and Kyron Hudson all regressing statistically after producing at their previous schools.
Pauley joins offensive coordinator/tight ends coach Taylor Mouser, offensive line coach Ryan Clanton, secondary coach Deon Broomfield, head strength and conditioning coach Reid Kagy and assistant strength and conditioning coach Brandon Pietrzyk as coaches who’ve followed Campbell from Ames to State College.
