Penn State Loses Second Cornerback Commit in 3-Day Span

Penn State’s future cornerback room continues to thin out.

Three-star, class of 2027 recruit Zachary Gleason on Thursday morning flipped his pledge from Penn State to West Virginia, becoming the second cornerback to depart from the Nittany Lions’ class. Fellow three-star, class of 2027 prospect Semajay Robinson flipped to Virginia just two days prior.

Though the move had been foreshadowed in recent days, Gleason’s departure leaves Penn State with just two cornerback commits in the 2027 cycle: four-star Kei’Shjuan Telfair and three-star Ka’ron Ceaser. The class now holds 20 total commitments, though more are expected to join in the coming days.

Entering his senior season at Central Catholic High School in Pittsburgh, Gleason is ranked as the No. 20 Pennsylvania recruit, No. 75 cornerback and No. 760 overall player. He took an official visit to campus recently, but the staff wasn’t able to retain him.

Buzz surrounding the recruitment indicates the Mountaineers, who offered Gleason while on a visit in late May, were able to outbid the Nittany Lions to land their first class of 2027 cornerback.
