Penn State Football: Nittany Lions Add to 2025 Recruiting Class

Penn State picked up a win on the football field Saturday night and added a win on the recruiting trail Sunday afternoon following the verbal commitment of New Jersey linebacker DJ McClary to the Nittany Lions’ 2025 recruiting class.

“This decision is based solely on me and the comfort I had with this university. I feel as though this university [will] help develop me as a better football player and a better person.” McClary said in a social media post.

McClary is the third verbal commitment of Penn State’s 2025 class coming in as a four-star prospect on the 247 Network. The 6-foot-1, 211-pound prospect from Henry Snyder High School in Jersey City is rated the fifth-best prospect in the state and the No. 16 rated linebacker in the cycle. He joins fellow 2025 class commits in cornerback Omari Gaines and fellow four-star prospect in running back Klandrea Barker. McClary is the highest rated of the trio, coming in as the No. 121 overall prospect in the class according to the 247 Network’s own rankings.

Penn State’s 2025 class is rated the No. 17 class still extremely early in the cycle. The Nittany Lions’ incoming 2024 class is ranked the No. 11 in the nation and is 24-players deep.
