Penn State has lost a member of its 2025 recruiting class. Antonio Branch Jr., a three-star safety from Miami’s Northwestern High School, has flipped his commitment from the Nittany Lions to Deion Sanders and Colorado.
The 6-foot-2, 172-pound Branch is listed as the No. 40-ranked safety and No. 436-overall prospect in the 2025 class. He announced his decision on X.
Penn State is now down to just one safety, three-star Braswell Thomas, in its upcoming recruiting class. With a recent “long-term” injury to Kevin Winston Jr., safety’s a position that’s been under a close microscope over the past two weeks.
The position could thin out next season with Winston and Jaylen Reed both likely to enter the NFL Draft. That should put true freshmen Dejuan Lane and Vaboue Toure in the spotlight as the year unfolds, a precursor to what should be a 2025 season with increased time for both.
