Penn State continued to build its 2025 recruiting class on Sunday evening following the verbal commitment of four-star linebacker Alex Tatsch, who announced his decision on Twitter.
Tatsch, a Latrobe native, plays at Greater Latrobe High School where he hits the scales at 6-foot-2 and 213 pounds. According to the 247 Network, he is rated the No. 307 prospect in the nation and is the 10th-ranked player in Pennsylvania. Tatsch is rated four-star prospect by the 247 Network’s Composite rankings, which take into account other recruiting services, but a three-star talent by the site’s own ratings.
Overall, Tatsch marks the fourth Pennsylvania player so far this cycle to verbally commit to Penn State, joining Xxavier Thomas, Tiqwai Hayes and Brady O’Hara. While recruiting is a fluid situation, Penn State will seemingly miss out on the top rated prospect in the state following the January commitment of Philadelophia edge rusher Zahir Mathis who is slated to join Ohio State. Tatsch is the highest rated prospect in the state committed to James Franklin and his staff, while seven of remaining top 10 Pennsylvania prospects remain uncommitted.
Penn State’s 2025 class is now nine players deep and rated the nation’s sixth-best class still extremely early in the cycle. Tatsch is the first commitment to Penn State following the addition of special teams coordinator and outside linebackers coach Justin Lustig.
