Penn State is moving up in the polls after a 21-7 ranked win over Illinois on Saturday. The Nittany Lions are No. 7 in the AP Top 25 poll, released Sunday, up two spots from last week’s listing.
The bump in the polls was, in part, made possible due to a loss by formerly No. 6-ranked Ole Miss losing to Kentucky and a narrow victory by formerly No. 7 Miami (FL) over Virginia Tech. Despite falling to Alabama, now ranked No. 1, Georgia remains ahead of Penn State at No. 5.
Penn State is one of seven Big Ten teams ranked this week and one of four listed within the top 10. Ohio State stayed put at No. 3, Oregon moved up to No. 6, Michigan moved up to No. 10, USC bumped up to No. 11, Indiana entered the top 25 at No. 23 and the Fighting Illini, with their first loss of the year, dropped to No. 24.
The Nittany Lions will return to Beaver Stadium for a noon kickoff with UCLA on Saturday. The Bruins (1-3) dropped a third consecutive loss this weekend, a 34-13 defeat to the Ducks. They have yet to score 20 points in a game through four contests in 2024.
