Penn State will ring in the Matt Campbell era with a special game theme.
The Nittany Lions’ season-opener against Marshall on Sept. 5 will be the annual Stripe Out Game, they announced on Wednesday morning. Kickoff is slated for 3:30 p.m. and the contest will be broadcast on FS1.
It’ll mark the team’s 11th Stripe Out, with a 6-4 record in previous iterations. Last year’s Stripe Out resulted in a 22-21 loss to Northwestern, which doubled as the Homecoming game, and resulted in the firing of James Franklin.
The seating map is currently unavailable, likely due to uncertainty surrounding the progress of ongoing Beaver Stadium renovations, but will be announced at a later date.
The only other announced home theme is the Homecoming game, which will be on Sept. 26 against Wisconsin. Additionally, Penn State’s matchup at Michigan will be the Wolverines’ Homecoming and its contest at Washington will be the Huskies’ “Purple Reign” game.
