Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Centre County

A mix of wintry precipitation could cause messy road conditions from Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning.

The National Weather Service at State College has issued a winter weather advisory from 2 p.m. Monday until 7 a.m. Tuesday for all of Centre County.

Snow and sleet accumulations of 1 to 2 inches and ice accumulations of about one-tenth of an inch are expected, according to the advisory. Motorists should expect slippery road conditions that will impact the evening commute.

“Precipitation type will vary widely across the area during the period of highest precipitation rates which will be in the evening and first half of the night,” the advisory stated.

The type of precipitation may change frequently during the storm, and locally higher snow totals of 2 to 4 inches are possible across higher terrain north and east of State College.
