A winter storm impacting much of Pennsylvania is expected to bring heavy snow to Centre County over the next few days.
The National Weather Service has issued winter storm warnings from 5 a.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Tuesday for areas including Centre County.
Heavy snow with total accumulations of 8 to 14 inches is expected between Sunday morning and Tuesday morning in southern Centre County.
AccuWeather, which is forecasting 8 to 12 inches for the State College area, expects the snow to taper off late Monday night. The heaviest snow is expected overnight Sunday into Monday morning.
The northern part of Centre County is under a winter warning watch from through 5 a.m. Tuesday, with total accumulations of 8 to 12 inches.
Travel across central Pennsylvania and most of the state is expected to be difficult. PennDOT is advising motorists to avoid all unnecessary travel.
This winter, State College already surpassed its total snowfall for all of the 2019-20 winter season, when a record-low 13.2 inches fell. A mid-December storm dumped 15 inches of snow, as measured at Penn State’s Walker Building.
