UPDATED: Pedestrian, Car Collide at Pugh and College

UPDATED @ 3:25 p.m. Oct. 27: The pedestrian struck in this collision is a 20-year-old Penn State student, State College police said Thursday afternoon.

Witnesses told police that the student did not check for traffic before crossing East College Avenue, according to a police report. It also indicates that he was wearing headphones at the time.

Upon impact, the student was propelled about 10 feet, police said. He did suffer head trauma, they confirmed.

East College Avenue near Pugh Street was closed about 30 minutes after the collision, police said. An investigation is ongoing.

A pedestrian and a vehicle collided about 10 a.m. Thursday at College Avenue and Pugh Street, State College police said.

A male pedestrian was walking away from the University Park campus when he crossed into a car’s path on East College Avenue, according to witness accounts cited by police.

Witnesses said the car had a green light, according to police.

The pedestrian was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center for treatment of a suspected head injury. police said.

Names of the involved parties were not immediately released.
