Two Penn State Football Players Cited for Disorderly Conduct

Two Penn State football players were cited on Monday for their alleged involvement in a fight outside of a fraternity house in January.

Junior cornerback Tariq Castro-Fields and redshirt freshman receiver Henry Fessler received summary citations for disorderly conduct. The citations were filed with District Judge Carmine Prestia and neither player has entered a plea as of yet, according to court records.

At about 2 a.m. on Jan. 27, State College police were called to a large fight outside of Delta Chi fraternity, 424 E. Fairmount Ave. Police said at the time that group of males had approached the house and began to fight fraternity members. Four fraternity members were taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center where they were treated for injuries and released.

Police subsequently said they were aware of the potential involvement of Penn State student-athletes and were working with the the university to identify those involved. Cell phone video of the incident was used in the investigation.

The citations for Castro-Fields and Fessler said they were ‘observed fighting with others on the front yard at Delta Chi.’ The offenses carry fines and court costs of $369.25 each.

No other citations have been filed and the case is no longer under investigation.

‘The university was aware of this incident and has conducted its own investigation,’ a Penn State spokesperson said. ‘We have followed our set processes, and, consistent with federal law, will not comment on individual student discipline.’

Both players are still listed on the team roster.

Castro Fields, a 20-year-old from Capitol Heights, Md., played in every game last season and recorded 32 tackles. He has been projected as a likely starter in 2019..

Fessler is a 19-year-old walk-on from Erie. He redshirted in 2018.
