Ten people were arrested for DUI late Friday and early Saturday in a Driving-under-the-Influence Checkpoint on North Atherton Street, the Centre County Alcohol Task Force announced.
The task force conducted the checkpoint on the 1500 block, near the Patton Township-Ferguson Township line.
Five traffic citations also were issued as part of the checkpoint, authorities said in a news release.
Officers from the Ferguson, Patton and Spring township police departments participated in the checkpoint. So did the State College borough police force, the Penn State police and the county sheriff’s office.
‘These details will continue to be conducted all year in an aggressive effort to reduce alcohol- and alcohol-and drug-related crimes in our community,’ the news release reads.
The DUI-arrest numbers from the checkpoint do not include any DUI arrests made elsewhere overnight in the Centre Region.
