The State College Area School Board agreed Monday night to move forward with a feasibility study that could enable the district to receive reimbursement for some of the costs incurred for the high school construction project.
The board authorized Crabtree Rorhbaugh and Associates to complete the District Wide Feasibility Study to meet the state’s requirements for reimbursement of construction projects known as PlanCon A.
Early calculations indicate the district could be reimbursed for between $5 million and $6 million of the $115 million project, according to district officials.
The board is expected to take another look at the feasibility study on Nov. 3. Final consideration of PlanCon A is scheduled for Nov. 10.
The board also approved the employment agreement for Linda Pierce, who will serve as the district’s human resources director at an annual starting salary of $115,000. Her start date is Sept. 2.
“We’re looking forward to having Linda become a part of the district,” says Superintendent Bob O’Donnell.
Pierce served in multiple roles at Penn State over the course of 31 years. Most recently, she has served as Director of Human Resources for Georgian Court University in Lakewood, N.J.
“My first priority will be to build relationships with everyone in the school district,” Pierce said in a prepared statement. “This will take some time – we are a large, diverse, and geographically dispersed organization – but I will make this commitment, and I will need your help to understand the culture, people, and practices. I like to approach solutions using common sense, have an active intellectual curiosity, and very much appreciate humor.”
