Second Mile responds to Sandusky charges

The charges against Jerry Sandusky allege that he preyed on boys he met through the second mile, the charity he founded in the ’70s for at-risk youth.

Monday morning, the organization released a new statement about Sandusky’s arrest and his involvement in the program.

Six News was told about a possible meeting at the second mile located in Centre County. When weNow before the incident, the Second Mile’s CEO, Jack Raykovitz, testified to the grand jury that he was made aware in 2002 by Penn State University athletic director, Tim Curley, that an individual had reported to Curley that he was uncomfortable about seeing Sandusky in the locker room showering with a youth.

Curley also says that information had been reviewed and that there was no finding of any kind of wrong-doing.

In November 2008, Sandusky informed the second mile that he was being investigated after allegations were made against him by an adolescent male in Clinton County. Organization officials said to their knowledge all of the alleged incidents occurred outside their programs and events.
