After winning several awards during the past year, State College Area School District now has another to add to the list.

The district received the 2006 Facilities Masters Award, created to recognize and reward districts that meet national standards for excellence in facilities and maintenance operations.  The award program was designed by the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO), and the award is only presented to school systems that have met or exceeded the high standards of the program.  Only 12 districts received the award nationally.

SCASD business administrator Dennis Younkin commented that facilities departments rarely receive recognition, and expressed his pride in Ed Pooprik and the physical plant staff that maintain the facilities.
