Jerry Sandusky’s attorneys filed an appeal in his sex abuse case Thursday afternoon.
The former Penn State University assistant football coach was sentenced to 30-60 years in prison for his conviction on dozens of counts of child sexual abuse.
Just after his Oct. 9 sentence was handed down, Sandusky’s defense attorney Joe Amendola addressed the media and said Sandusky was ready to start the appellate process within the next 10 days.
In June, Sandusky was found guilty of 45 counts of child sexual abuse, convicted of molesting 10 boys over a 15-year period. Sandusky and his attorneys have maintained his innocence.
For the 68-year-old Sandusky, the punishment handed down by Judge John Cleland is effectively a life sentence.
