Penn State filed a lawsuit Tuesday against two Indiana-based companies to stop advertising available housing on football weekends under the name ‘PSU Football House Rentals,’ according to a report in the Harrisburg Patriot-News.
The lawsuit, filed against South Bend-based Double Domer Properties and Rent Like a Champion, seeks an injunction, unspecified damages and destruction of materials containing university trademarks, the report states. Penn State alleges the companies have processed more than 700 rentals and generated more than $1 million, according to the report.
It appears that a growing number of borough homeowners, using online outlets and word of mouth, make their houses available for rent on Penn State home-football weekends, municipal leaders have said.
