After Severe Thunderstorm Warnings and a Tornado Watch led to the cancellation of Friday’s Blue-White Carnival, fans and alumni who came to town for the weekend were looking for a new location to get the party going.

Jordan Chapman, a recent graduate who is back in town for the game, had no problem finding a back up plan at Café 210.

“I was looking forward to the carnival, but this is just as good,” said Chapman who was meeting up with friends. “We’ll hold out in the bars tonight and hopefully tomorrow isn’t like this. We’re all here to see the game, as long as it’s not cancelled like it was two years ago, it’s all good!” said Chapman, referring to the decision to cancel the second half of the 2011 spring game.

While the downtown scene will remain buzzing rain or shine, not everyone has an immediate back up. Andrea Babcock was on her way to Beaver Stadium and the carnival with her two young children when she found out it was cancelled.

“It’s a bummer. It’s too bad the weather isn’t cooperating. We’re going to go get dinner but then probably just head back to the hotel until tomorrow. I don’t want these guys downtown too late tonight.”

No matter what the plans were for Friday, everyone has their fingers crossed that Saturday’s weather will prove more agreeable. “Tomorrow we’ll try again,” said Babcock. Saturday’s festivities will start back up with the One Team autograph session at 9 a.m. At 10 a.m. the carnival and food vendors will open for business.

Saturday’s weather is expected to be chilly and raw so be sure to dress appropriately. You can check for updated AccuWeather forecasts on the StateCollege.com homepage.
