We’re sorry.

That’s what the head of Penn State’s Board of Trustees is saying to Joe Paterno’s family after a report they released on Monday.

The trustees outlined its rationale for ousting the late football coach and once again criticized Paterno for not doing more after being told about an alleged sexual abuse case involving Jerry Sandusky.

Chairperson Karen Peetz spoke at a meeting involving the university Faculty Senate on Tuesday.

Peetz told 6 News they had no intention to upset the Paterno family.

She said they issued the report after continued questions from Penn State alumni and staff.

Peetz also told faculty that trustees are considering some changes to the board, including a new committee that will focus on outreach and community relations.
